Pawse

An AI integrated desktop pet that filters out harmful behavior in real time, diffuses stressful situations, and rewards good behavior— building a foundation for positive behavior online

Problem

Children are the most at-risk group on the internet, and most children are gaining access to it at a younger and younger age. Over 50% of children on the internet have encountered inappropriate content.

Solution

Integrate a friendly, non-invasive monitor onto their device to steer them away from adult content, and promote healthy online behavior and habits.

Primary Audience

Parents of young children that they may not be able to constantly supervise, who have moderate to frequent access to the internet,.

Secondary Audience

Single travelers that prefer the privacy of full properties rather than shared spaces

Empathy Interviews

Interviewing people with internet access as kids, or around kids that do reveals that there is an abundance of explicit content that is hard to avoid. Children inadvertently consume explicit content and can regurgitate what they read, or find it difficult to communicate that they need help.

Key Findings

Children are particularly vulnerable to interacting with strangers in gaming settings like Discord or Roblox, as shared gameplay makes them feel less like strangers.

Children replicate sayings and actions seen online as they desire to fit in and fail to understand the meaning of their actions. These encouraged inappropriate behaviors are making children feel comfortable saying things without consequence or thought.

Children feel apprehensive with talking about the things they see online. Instead, they rely on searching the internet for their problems.
